A day in Belen and Carmen's life. One story and two lives

'The Other Side Of Town' is a introduction to places, buildings, people and landscapes with their proper voice and story. Concepts battered by time, by society, by their proper history. Concepts that use to fall into oblivion.

This is a continuous and slow process of learning, understanding and respect for everyone and everything.

A Journey. I understand it like a physical and spiritual moving towards the exterior. That external world that you wish to know, you wish to understand and you wish to feel. On that journey, we are finding new places, places that we are leaving back. We use means of locomotion to transport to other places. We find new objects, new situations that at that moment they call the attention of us. Also we find people that stay on those places, people thet are coming back, people that continues their journey. A journey is to experiment.

Experimental

Reflections of Hanwell, are a series of images that explore Hanwell through my own eyes as a new arrival and migrant to London in 2009. These places compose a new landscape for me. Hanwell is my new space, a new inspiration for my imagination. The photos are taken at different periods of the year, and depict different scenes - some beautiful, some not so beautiful - but I need to photograph them, because I am intrigued by the picture not the place.

This work has been designed as a homage to my father and all the other people who despite the circumstances that they have to endure in life they have found the inner strength to embrace life in all its intensity, even in those moments when living such a life is not worth living in the eyes of other people. Life when it smiles, when we have to find the smile in life. Experience teaches us that life with his ups and downs can only be enjoyed if we live it to the full. Illness is not an ideal situation, nobody can truly enjoy it, but there is not guarantee in life that our voyage in this world will be exempt of these hard tests and it takes a very courageous person to sweeten the bitter moments in life.
